Some Problems With Idolatry

When man’s ideas about God’s nature are wrong
He is ripe to fall into the worshiping of idol gods
Which are made in he image of man and or beast
This will render one’s worship vain to say the least!
"God is Spirit" we are clearly informed by John
A spirit does not have a form visible to men’s eyes
To fashion some object to represent the great God
Scripture calls idolatry and that of the deepest dye!
Idolatry takes on many different forms and objects
By well meaning people who wish to honor deity
Some carry a so called "prayer rock" in their pocket
Just so they won’t forget to pray, what a great pity!
One gospel preacher wrote of the railroad spike
Kept visible on his office workspace his desk
So each time he looked at that railroad spike
Then Christ’s crucifixion he would not forget!
One great weekly memorial is to do that trick
It’s called "communion" or "the Lord’s Supper"
As we partake of unleavened bread and the wine
We each remember the death that Christ did suffer!
Using various images and such to jog our finite minds
May sound good to uninspired men a lot of the times
Such shows dissatisfaction with God’s written word
As a complete revelation about God and that is absurd!

Matt. 15:8-9; Acts 17:22-31; Col. 1:15; 2:8-10; 18-22).
