Those Empty Pews

Those empty pews speak volumes
But they don’t always tell us why!
Some of them are permanently empty
For their former occupants have died!
Some are temporarily empty now
Due to sickness beyond control
Some are empty by someone’s choice
And we truly fear for this person’s soul!
To forsake means to abandon of course
But total abandonment is often slow
It begins with unexcused absences
Showing a sin problem for such souls!
Try and think of your example
When for reasons God doesn’t buy
Your pew is glaringly left empty
And many are made to wonder why?
Is your name still in God’s book
The one that’s called "the book of life"
Or has your name been blotted out
Because you just are not living right?

Eph. 4:11-16; 1 Cor. 12:13-27;
Heb. 3:12-19; 5:9: Rev. 22:14).
