Brethren and Friends, Jim Sasser here. A very good Wednesday
morning to each and everyone. May God bless you and yours.
Here is an article from my recent files:
GOD HAS SPOKEN
God is. Do you believe that? Why do you believe it? Both the creation
and God's Word declare it to be true (Rom.
1:18-32; Psa. 19:1-4; 14:1; Gen. 1:1; Jno. 1:4). Jesus Christ
is Deity. Do you believe that? Why do you believe it? Proph-
etic statements, the testimony of John the Baptist, the claims
if Jesus supported by miracles, and the testimony of the Apostles as
eyewitnesses all give evidence of the truth of this
assertion (Isa. 7:14; 9:6; 53:1-12; Jno. 1:26-34; 3:13-18; 4:25,
26; 5:21; 20:30,31; Acts 2:22-36). God has spoken to man-
kind by means of angels, prophets, the Apostles guided by
the Holy Spirit. Do you believe that? Why do you believe it?
His message to mankind is called the Scriptures, which assert
that they furnish the man of God unto every good work and
make him complete (2 Tim. 3:16,17). Do you accept the Scrip-
tures' claim of verbal inspiration? Note 1 Cor. 2:13; 14:37; 2
Pet. 1:16-25. If you do not believe the Scriptures, how can
you know God and His Messiah?
The evidence supporting these declarations is powerful
and fully persuasive to those who consider them seriously
and open-mindedly. Many things in life all of us accept with-
out serious question, based on far less evidence than what
God has supplied to us. The lives of all mankind are shaped
to a large degree by faith in what people have been told. Why
then should anyone refuse to believe the most thoroughly
documented message in the world?
Do you believe in life after physical death? Why do you
believe that? The resurrection of Jesus Christ settles the
question for all time for those who believe the Scriptures. Eternal life is
the promise of God to those who believe what
He has said and who obey His instruction (Jno. 3:16; Heb. 5:
8,9). "What doth the Lord require of thee?" He has been
clear and specific about what we must do to have eternal life.
We cannot omit the specifications and expect to please Him.
How many of you would be pleased with a man who contract-
ed to build you a house, and then built it for you, but failed to
follow the specifications of the blueprint? Why do you sup-
pose that God gave mankind instructions?
If you have an interest in studying these matters further,
there are many saints in the world about you that would be
happy to study with you in a most courteous and civil way.
Please do not cast away the only lasting hope of life. --------
Gilbert Alexander. (I would personally be willing to study with
anyone who might want a further study of what God requires
of us in order to obtain eternal life. Just drop me a line on the internet.
Thank you, JWS). </HTML>
