WHOM SHALL I FEAR?
"The LORD is my light and my salvation;
whom shall I fear?
the LORD is the strength of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid?
When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my
flesh, they stumbled and fell.
Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war
should rise against me, in this will I be confident." (Psa 27:1-3)
Fear restricts, strangles, prevents, holds back, and removes oneself from
fellowship of God and His word!
FEAR PLACES ONE IN BONDAGE!
The question we must ask ourselves is "Whom/what shall we fear?"
Too often we allow the cares of this world and troubles from all sides to
cause our faith to weaken and, in some cases, our fears and weaknesses draw
us away from God!
* Do we fear Satan? John said "Ye are of God, little children, and have
overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the
world." (1 John 4:4) Can't blame God!
* Do we fear of failure? The one talent man was afraid and did nothing. God
punished him by casting him into outer darkness! (Matt 25:25-30)
* Do we fear with our imaginations? Sometimes we can deceive our intellect
into thinking we cannot do something for fear of imaginations! "The slothful
man saith, There is a lion in the way; a lion is in the streets." (Prov
26:13)
For those who fear, remember ".God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but
* of power, and
* of love, and
* of a sound mind." (2 Tim 1:7)
"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because FEAR
HATH TORMENT. He that feareth is not made perfect in love." (1 John 4:18)
THE SOLUTION!
"Wait on the LORD:
* be of good courage, and
* he shall strengthen thine heart:
wait, I say, on the LORD." (Psa 27:14)
