[Biblemat] A: Where Did Cain Get his Wife

WHERE DID CAIN GET HIS WIFE?

          How many times have you asked or been asked this question? On the
surface it appears to be a great mystery. But with a little common sense and
eliminating preconceived ideas, the truth, or as near the truth, can reveal
itself.

          Here are the scriptures' in question: "And Cain went out from the
presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden. And
Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a
city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch. And
unto Enoch was born Irad: and Irad begat Mehujael: and Mehujael begat
Methusael: and Methusael begat Lamech." (Gen 4:16-18)

FACT: CAIN MOVED TO THE LAND OF NOD.

CANNOT BE PROVEN

* People already lived in the land of Nod

* Who named the land of Nod

1.  Nod lied east of Eden.         

2.  Nod means place or area of wandering.

3.  Cain could have easily named this place for it characterized his
condition as a fugitive and wanderer on the earth!

* Cain got his wife in Nod

1.  Cain could already been married and brought his wife with him when he
left the presence of the Lord and his parents.

FACT: CAIN KNEW HIS WIFE.

Adam and Eve were grown people when they were punished and forced to leave
the garden. We are not told of any children they may have had prior to Cain
and Adam. We do know they had children since Eve is the mother of all
living, Gen 3:20. It should be no surprise that Cain may have chosen a
sister or from several generations of cousins to pick as a wife. Even
Abraham married his half sister, Gen 20:12. It wasn't until God gave a law
to the nation of Israel that He forbid marriages to family and close
relation, Lev 18 and 20.

FACT: CAIN BUILT A CITY IN THE LAND OF NOD.

          CAIN NAMED THE CITY AFTER HIS FIRST BORN SON.    

It appears Cain was already married and took his wife with him. It also
appears Cain named the land of Nod and the city in that land. We have no
evidence people lived in the land of Nod prior to Cain and his wife moving
there!
