Don Martin with the update information:
We continue to appreciate the wide use (millions of hits each year) our
Websites are receiving. I never anticipated when I designed and published
these sites about ten years ago that we would be seeing so much good
accomplished and for this, we are profoundly grateful and humbled.
The new Current Truth in www.bibletruths.net is, "The Exclusivity of
Christianity." This article was written to compliment an article already in
the archives titled, "The Inclusiveness of Christianity." As I have said,
our original and continued goal is to have material in our sites that
contain the whole truth, not just a particle here and there, mixed with
error. To read this new material, when on the home page of Bible Truths,
enter through the door and click on "Current Truth" in the directory. When
there, check out the many departments of Bible Truths as well as the Online
Bible Study Course (you might want to incorporate this course in your
teaching of others) and "The Online Greek Course." These courses contain
study material, eight lessons and one hundred and sixty questions,
respectively. The study material for each lesson supplies the
answers for the questions.
I also continue to build the PowerPoint sermons library in Bible Truths.
Out of the new PowerPoint files I just published, two sermons are, "Jesus,
the Son of God" and "The Support of Preachers." Much time when into the
preparing of these presentations and you are welcome to use them and make
whatever minor changes you desire. You can check out the hundreds of
PowerPoint sermons (new ones being added) by entering through the door on
the home page and clicking on, "PowerPoint Sermons" in the directory on the
Site Map page. I would like to see many preachers as well as elderships
especially making use of, "The Support of Preachers."
The new Featured Question for www.biblequestions.org is, "What is taught
about 'beware'?" (See below.) Once again, we thank you for helping spread
the word about both Bible Truths and Bible Questions. There are over four
hundred very commonly asked and answered questions in the archives of Bible
Questions. When on the home page, click on the "Archives" button.
Question: "What is taught about 'beware'?"
Answer: There are basically three different Greek words translated
"beware" in the Greek New Testament. One word (phulasso) means to "guard,
watch, keep, is used, in the middle voice, of being on one's guard against."
(Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words).
We must beware of covetousness. Jesus taught, ".take heed, and beware of
covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things
which he possesseth" (Lk. 12: 15). Jesus then provides an example of
covetousness, the rich farmer (vs. 16 ff.). Many Americans today are so
engulfed in their possessions and working for more that they have become the
slaves of their material idols (Matt. 6: 24 ff.).
We must beware of false teachers. Hear Jesus again: "Beware of the false
prophets which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are
ravening wolves" (Matt. 7: 15). False teachers disguise themselves, Jesus is
saying. Paul wrote, ".Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the
ministers of righteousness." (2 Cor. 11: 14, 15). We must try the spirits (I
Jn. 4: 1). The gospel is our standard to determine the false and the loyal
teacher (Gal. 2: 14, 2 Jn. 9-11).
Beware of hypocrisy. Jesus warned about the influence of the Pharisees
when he taught, ".Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is
hypocrisy" (Lk. 12: 1). Hypocrisy is pretense. They appeared righteous, but
they rejected the commandments of God and performed their selfish will (Mk.
7).
The command to beware (watch, guard against) shows man's responsibility
and participation in his salvation. Indeed, one must beware lest one fall
from one's own steadfastness (2 Pet. 3: 17).
Cordially,
