Brethren and Friends, Jim Sasser here. A very good Wednesday
morning to each and every one. May God bless you and yours.
Here are a couple of short articles from my ancient files:
IN THE BEGINNING -- "LET US MAKE MAN"
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth"
(Gen. 1:1).
IN THE BEGINNING: -- Anyone who denies this, the first
statement of God's Revelation to man, is faced with insurmou-
ntable problems. First, if God did not create the heavens and
the earth, who did? Second, if that which was in the beginn-
ing was a particle of matter, where did that particle come from? Third, at
what point did that which was lifeless become a living thing? Fourth, if life
developed and evolved
with the passing of time into higher forms, at what point did
the male and female sexes appear? If life continued from gen-
eration to generation in an upward spiral uni-sexually, how
could any deviation from this pattern contribute to further
progress in the evolutionary process? The Bible account
makes sense because it is the Word of God, and God's Word
is truth (Jno. 17:17). The heavens and the earth had their be-
ginning not with some form of lifeless matter, but with the
eternal, omnipotent, omniscient God.
It is difficult to imagine tht our founding fathers ever intended for
the school children of America to be denied the
truth.
"LET US MAKE MAN": -- "Let us make man in Our image..."
(Gen. 1:26).
That which God made was "good" (Gen. 1:10,18,21,25).
The crowning point of His creation was man -- created in His
"Image", according to His "Likeness" (Gen. 1:26). On the creative ladder man
is at the top, made from the beginning at
the top. He did not have to evolve rung by rung, from the
amoeba through the monkey until finally he reached the top.
In fact, that he alone has been created in the image and
likeness of God, such places him apart from and above every
other being.
Being created in the image of God gives to man honor, and dignity, not
afforded any other creature. Being created
in the image of God also gives to him the moral responsibility
to be like God, to be holy, to have an everlasting spirit. "You
shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy" (Lev. 19:2).
When youth is bombarded with the doctrine that he has evol-
ved form the lower forms of animal life, he is robbed of the
honor and dignity that rightly belong to him. Told that he is
just a higher form of animal more than likely he will accept no
more responsibility than to act as an animal. ---- Billy Norris
