Brethren and Friends, Jim Sasser here. A very good Wednesday
morning to each and everyone. May God bless you and yours.
Here is an article from my files:

BLESSED TO BE CALLED CHILDREN OF GOD

"Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on
us, that we should be called children of God!" (1 Jno. 3:1).
There is a special relationship that a child has with his paren-
ts. A child has a way of getting close to our hearts. To be
called children of God by the Father expresses the love the
Father has for Christians.

God is offering His love, His sheltering care, His enrich-
ments, and His tender mercy to all Christians. Being called
children of god means we are a part of God's family and God's eternal care.
It is not a surprise that John wrote in
amazement -- "Behold what manner of love the Fatrher besto-
wed on us!"

We all struggle to understand our relationship with God.
One thing is clear -- we are His children! God's Word presen-
ts some wonderful blessings that have been bestowed on
Christians: the hope to be like Jesus when He is revealed (1
Jno. 3:2,3); Spirit of God bearing witness with their spirit
(Rom. 8:14,16); heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ (Rom.
8:17; Gal. 4:5-7); God dwelling and walking with them (2 Cor.
6:16-18); God's lights in the world (Phil. 2:15); Abraham's seed with all the
blessings that entails (Gal. 3:29; Eph. 2:19-
22); and the list could go on and on.

As God's children we share in the life of Jesus Christ with
the realization that the world did nto know Him and the world
will not know us. Though it has not been revealed what we
shall be, we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like
Him. Also, having this hope in Him, we purify ourselves, just
as He is pure (1 Jno. 3:1-3).

Being a child of God brings great blessings and hope while clearly
requiring great responsibility. Like our own child-
ren, we see their future potential even when they are infants.
As parents we teach and guide them in the way thy should go. We hope they
will be like us concerning all our good and
righteous characteristics.

God's bestowed love helps all Christians to be His children
who are growing and maturing to be like Jesus, His Son! -----
