Subject: REPORT ON JUDY

Dear brothers and sisters,
I said that I would likely be away from the medium of communication for a
week or so. It has turned into something like 24 days and since Judy is
still in Intensive Care (now for the 18th day) in the Kingston hospital (2
hours away from Peterborough) I need to be with her and that may be for
another 2 weeks or so. The reason for her slow recovery is not from the
operation but from some quite serious respiratory complications following
her operation - fluid on the lungs and a partially collapsed lung. A trachea
has been installed in her windpipe. The first one popped out from a cough!
Serious complications seemed to result. Thank God such did not develop. What
a frightening time that was. The second trachea has been stitched on and
also supported with a neck band.
After a CT scan today the doctors believe that her body (with medical help)
Is eliminating the fluids and that the lung will return to normal (with some
prompting). Just how must time this will take is unknown. Her breathing must
be better before they start letting her breath on her own, incrementally
each day over a period of perhaps 7 or more days.
As many of you know, the fully hysterectomy went well. There is no more sign
of cancer and for that we are thankful. Judy went in the hospital 10 days
before the actual operation as the surgeon wanted to consider her total
health. The total time to date that she has been in the hospital is 28 days.
With the trachea she is unable to talk, but now she can write and of course
mouth words.
On the very day that Judy had the awful experience with the trachea, one of
her closed friends suddenly passed away (Roberta Newman). I have not told
her yet - I do not want her shedding tears and causing fluids in her throat
or in any way, at this time, to be thinking negatively.
Judy and I want to express our heartfelt appreciation for your concern, love and prayers. You have been wonderful. God bless you all
