DO WANT TO GO TO HEAVEN?
Text: Luke 16:20-31
The question may seem ridiculous to those of us who are faithful to Christ.
Even though that is true we need to understand that many people; all over the
world have little or no faith in really going to heaven. These who have no
faith in going to heaven do not believe there is a heaven [i.e. for the
righteous dead] and a lake of fire [i.e. for the wicked dead] that will become the
abode of all who have ever lived on the earth.
The reason for my doubt regarding the great masses of humanity on the earth
is found to be reliable when we look to the Written Word of God [i.e. the
Bible]. Please notice the Bible reading that follows:
_Luke 16:20-31_ (http://www.crossbooks.com/verse.asp?ref=Lk+16:20-31)
NOTE:
Some of the facts revealed to us via this event found in the Gospel of
Luke:
    * One was a beggar {i.e. having nothing but begging even for food] and
one was wealthy {i.e. having many material tangibles]; verses 20-21
    * Both of the men died and one went to a place of happiness and joy
and one went to a place of torments; verses 22-23
    * The rich man begged for mercy saying, "Father Abraham, have mercy
on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and
cool my tongue; for I am in anguish in this flame." but Abraham said, "24
"Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and Lazarus
in like manner evil things: but now here he is comforted, and thou art in
anguish"; verses 24-25
    * Father Abraham says that there is a great gulf that exist between
the righteous and the wicked in this place [i.e. Greek Hades - the
intermediate state of the dead]; verses 26
    * The rich man immediately thinks of his family left back in the world
of the living and seeks to have someone go back and warn them not to come to
this awful place of torments. verses 27-29
    * Abraham tells him that the information and those that teach it are
sufficient evidence of the way to righteousness; if they will not hear the
Bible and those that faithfully teach it they would not hear one that arose from
the grave. verses 30-31
CONCLUSION:
The sad result of disbelief in heaven and other Bible based concepts is the
continuing ignorance about the reality of Heaven and the Lake of Fire. These
realities exist just as surely as God created the heavens and the earth, that
the Bible is a book of absolute truth, that Jesus Christ died for the sins
of all humanity, and that there is an end of this universe coming, “someday!”
Therefore, to those who disbelieve in heaven and all the great blessings
revealed to mankind via the Holy Scriptures I say, My God be true and very
person a liar - Romans 3:4, “God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a
liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and
mightest overcome when thou art judged.” KJV
