Brethren and Friends, Jim Sasser here. A very good Tuesday
morning to each and everyone. May God bless you and yours.
Here is an article from my files:
KEY INGREDIENT
Many foods are incomplete without a key ingredient. Can
you imagine pizza without cheese, a hamburger with no meat,
or a snickers bar without chocolate?
The Christian life also has a key ingredient love. Paul em-
phasized its value as he wrote his letter to the Corinthians.
Whild instructing concerning spiritual gifts, he paused to say
that even if we have gifts of speech to talk to angels, have all
knowledge and faith, give everything we have to feed the poor but don't have
love, we are nothing (1 Cor. 13:1-3). We'
ve missed the "more excellent way" (12:31).
A disciple of Jesus should love his family, his friends, fell-
ow Christians, those who don't know Christ and even his
enemies (Lk. 6:27-31). A true disciple is know by his love.
"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one
another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one
another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples,
if you have love for one another" (Jno. 13:34,35).
Purity of doctrine is important. Faith's worth is irreplacea-
ble, as are actions of obedient service to the Lord. However
without love, we're about as useful as peanut butter without
peanuts!
Let us make sure that our service to God flows form a heart of love.
That's the key ingredient. --- Shane Williams
