Brethren and Friends, Jim Sasser here. A very good Saturday
morning to each and everyone. May God bless you and yours.
Here is an article from my recent files:

GOD HAS SPOKEN

Parents, are you reading? Grandparents and other adults,
are you reading? Jesus said, "Nevertheless, when the Son
of Man comes, shall He find faith (the faith) on the earth?"
(Lk. 18:8). What would it take for the faith to disappear? What would it
take for a generation weak in faith, weak in knowledge, and compromising toward
sin to arise? It took
only one generation for the Israelites to turn away from God,
for a generation to arise that "did not know the Lord nor the
work which He had done for Israel" (Jdgs. 2:7-10).

It takes only one generation of neglect and permissive-
ness to have the same thing happen today. Hands-on parent-
al guidance in word and example is essential to the spiritual
growth and development of children. The corrupt society
that we live in is no more abased than that of the Canaanites,
Moabites, and Ammonites. It is deeply troubling to hear and
see the decay all around us, but we must not wring our hands
in despair. Noah and Abraham survived corrupt societies,
and so can we.

For faith to survive, we must govern our children. We must direct where
they can go and can't go. We must teach
them to be a distinctive and separate people (Eph. 6:1-4; 2
Cor. 6:17-7:1). We must guide them in their friendships, for-
bidding evil companionships (1 Cor. 15:33). We must set their standard of
dress and their patterns of speech. If we
would make them spiritually strong, we must be spiritually
strong. When we cease attending gospel meetings and other
servics such as song services, we can expect our children to
gravitate toward the largest churches with the most social
activities, where they won't have to be depended on for lead-
ership and service. When we exhibit a compromising attitude
toward denominationalism, we can expect our children to
leave the faith and join one of those denominations. Many in
this area are far along the way to losing their faith and to los-
ing their children.

Inertia keeps the idle and indifferent from rising up and putting on the
whole armor of God. We must shake off our
sleep and wake up lest we and our children are lost. How
much do you value your souls and the souls of your children? ----------
