Brethren and Friends, Jim Sasser here. A very good Saturday
morning to each and everyone. May God bless you and yours.
Here is an article that recently came my way:

GOD HAS SPOKEN

Christians, are you aware and properly vigilant regarding
Satan's devices and the multitude of powerful influences of
the world of sin seeking to make us a part of its realm and
under its dominion? Does not history teach us that apostasy
(departure from God) comes suggesting little, harmless-look-
ing steps for us, rather than one mighty, wild leap of aband-
on? Read about the Ephesians in Acts 20:16-38 and then their later state in
Rev. 2:1-7. Secular history also tells us that the church at Ephesus became a
strong influence in the
apostasy of the early church.

We live in a world dominated by materialism. Wealth is the
primary measure of success, and people are constantly encouraged to use their
resources for luxury and selfish plea-
sure. God's Word is all but forgotten in the pursuit of religio-
us philosophies that accentuate human wisdom and gratificat-
ion of fleshly appetites. Religious authority is vested in man-
kind rather than in Christ. Self-promotion is the pathway to
fulfillment, and humility is equated with weakness. This is
opposite to God's Truth which declares that "God resists the
proud but gives grace to the humble" (Jas. 4:6), and that "whoever desires to
become great among you shall be your
servant. And whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave
of all" (Mk. 10:43,44).

Issues concerning divorce and remarriage have multiplied
in our generation, as saints have left their sanctification and
have become partakers of the sins of society. One cannot
take Matt. 5:32 and 19:9 as final authority, but they must be
dissected and parsed until their meaning is about as clear as
a freshly stirred mudhole. Our generation wants to toy with
temptations to lust while refusing to recognize the consequen-
ce of its permissiveness. Many have already departed into
apostasy and sins of the flesh, and many more will follow them if Christians
do not wake up and separate themselves
from the ways of the world (Rom. 1; 1 Cor. 1-3; Eph. 5:1-17;
Rom. 13:11). Wake up, brethren, wake up! --------- Gilbert
Alexander. </HTML>
