Excusing Habitual Sin

Some even try to use the Scriptures;
Attempting to justify habitual sin;
"Why we all sin every day" they say;
And that is said much to my chagrin!
While it’s true we don’t live above sin;
Yet John wrote, "that you may not sin;"
When we fail or slip we have an Advocate;
To forgive when we sin now and again!
If we live a life full of habitual sinning;
Then we are not "walking in the light;"
We are walking in the state of darkness;
To claim fellowship with God isn’t right!
For the Christian sin is an occasional slip;
Sin is not to be our way of daily living;
Then as we repent and pray to our Lord;
His blood is there for continual cleansing!
"...do not let sin reign in your mortal body,
that you should obey it in its lust."
You died to sin were buried in baptism and arose;
In order to walk with Christ in whom you trust!
(1 John 1:6-10; 1 John 2:1; Romans 6:1-23;
Colossians 3:1-10; Romans 12:1-2).
