[Biblemat] Outline: Factors Of Salvation

Here is a sermon often preached by my Dad, Jim Sasser. He says he  
first preached it in 1961 and has delivered it many times since all  
over the world.

FACTORS OF SALVATION

Definition:  Factor -- One who acts, or transacts business, for  
another; an agent.  One of the elements that contributes to produce a  
result; a constituent ("means" by which) - Webster.  The word factor  
is not a Bible word per se.

Salvation -- To be rescued; to be in the state of preservation from  
all harm, etc. - Greek. Deliverance from the bondage of sin.   
Virtually equivalent to sanctification.

1. THE ORIGINAL FACTOR: -- GOD: -- Psa. 3:8; Jonah 2:9; 2 Tim. 1:9;  
Eph. 1:3-14; Gen. 3:15.

2. THE SACRIFICIAL FACTOR: -- CHRIST: -- Jno. 1:29; 1 Cor. 15:3; Eph.  
5:2; Heb. 10:1-20.

3. THE PROCURING FACTOR: -- BLOOD OF CHRIST: -- Matt. 26:28; Acts  
20:28; Eph. 1:7; 1 Pet. 1:18,19.

4. THE REVEALING FACTOR: -- THE HOLY SPIRIT: -- Matt. 10:19,20; Jno.  
16:13-15; 14:26; Acts 2:2-4; 7:51; Rom. 8:14; 1 Cor. 2:10; Eph. 3:5; 1  
Tim. 4:1.

5. THE INSTRUMENTAL FACTOR: -- THE BIBLE: -- First in inspired men: --  
2 Cor. 4:7; Jno. 8:32; 17:17; Rom. 1:16; 1 Cor. 15:1,2; Jas. 1:21;  
Eph. 3:1-7; 2 Tim. 3:16,17.

6. THE APPROPRIATING FACTOR: -- FAITH: -- Mk. 16;16; Acts 16:31; Rom.  
10:17; Jas. 2:14-17; Heb. 11:1-12.

7. CONSUMATING FACTOR: -- OBEDIENCE: -- Jas. 1:21-25; Matt. 7:21-17;  
Jas. 2:16-26; Jno. 3:36 ASV.

8. THE SUSTAINING FACTOR: -- HOPE: -- Psa. 119:116; Rom. 2:24,25; 1  
Cor. 15:19; Col. 1:5; Titus 1:2; Heb. 6:18,19; Col. 3:1-4; Rev. 2:10.

9. THE AUTHORITATIVE FACTOR: -- CHRIST'S NAME: -- Matt. 1:21;  
28:18,19; 17:5; Phil. 2:9-11; Eph. 1:15-23; Col. 3:17.

Conclusion:  We will have to appropriate the use of these factors of  
salvation to our lives if we expect to be saved.  Why not begin to use  
them now?
