Hello to everyone on this wonderful discussion list.

Don Skeels here with a question about the Holy Spirit.

The NASV of Ephesians 4:30 reads, "And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption."

From your studies and knowledge, how does one "grieve the Holy Spirit" and what does Paul mean that we were "sealed..." by the Holy Spirit?

That's a tough verse for me and I'm not sure I have an answer, other than the fundamental one. Sealed means "given in pledge" until the day when we are actually with God in Person, and "grieve the HS" means to reject the Word of God.

Does it go deeper than this? What think ye?

  brotherly,

  Don Skeels
