Glorifying God
Andy Sochor
In John 17:4, Jesus prayed to the Father,
"I glorified thee on the earth, having accomplished the work which thou hast
given me to do."
Likewise, since Christians "were bought with a price", they must therefore
"glorify God in [their] body." (1 Corinthians 6:20).

Who Will Be Acceptable to God?
Garreth Clair
But thanks be to God, who giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus
Christ. Wherefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always
abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is
not vain in the Lord (1 Corinthians 15:57-58).
For whatsoever is begotten of God overcomes the world: and this is the
victory that hath overcome the world, (even) our faith (1 John 5:4).

Premillennialism and the Rapture (Part 3)
Shannon Ramey
Now a few key passages which are assumed to support premillenialism and the
rapture can be examined. First, consider Revelation 20:4-6:
And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them:
and I saw the souls of them that had been beheaded for the testimony of
Jesus, and for the word of God, and such as worshipped not the beast,
neither his image, and received not the mark upon their forehead and upon
their hand; and they lived, and reigned with Christ a thousand years. The
rest of the dead lived not until the thousand years should be finished. This
is the first resurrection.Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first
resurrection: over these the second death hath no power; but they shall be
priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

And now, a new feature for Renewed in Spirit: Voices From the Past. We will
be re-publishing articles written in past times that can speak to us today.
Use and Abuse of Gospel Papers
Leslie Diestelkamp
In a recent editorial in the Firm Foundation, brother Reuel Lemmons had some
things to say that need to be said over and over again. He began by saying,
"Someone suggested a few days ago that the editors of 'our' papers ought to
get together and decide what the truth is and then all stick to the
decision. The honest suggester thought that that would cure all the division
in the brotherhood, 'for brethren', said he, 'all follow one of the papers."

Book Reviews
BR: "The New Testament and the People of God," by N.T. Wright
Reviewed by Ethan R. Longhenry
Very few periods of history engender more dispute and discussion than the
first century and the origins of Christianity. The modern scholastic
community has spilled unbelievable amounts of ink in various attempts to
understand the history, theology, and literature of early Christianity and
its relation (or lack thereof) to the world from which it came. In the
midst of all the conflicts and disputes we find N.T. Wright and his intended
5 volume series on Christian Origins and the Question of God. The New
Testament and the People of God introduces this series and its lofty aim: to
present a believable portrait of the origins of Christianity in its first
century context. It is thoroughly appropriate that this series will involve
something around 2,500 pages; nevertheless, Wright has written a work that
is relatively approachable and understandable to those not entirely familiar
with the world of Biblical scholarship.

For the teens...
Dances and the Teenage Christian
Ethan R. Longhenry
We are again in the midst of the spring season, and all kinds of teenagers
around the country are getting ready for their school prom. School dances,
particularly homecoming and prom, have become American rites of passage for
teenagers, and represent a particularly difficult choice for teenagers who
strive to obey Christ. Should the teenage Christian have anything to do
with such school dances? Let us search the Scriptures and make righteous
judgment.
